Good tests for decluttering

Filed under: Moving ourselves — by accessahut @ 10:48 am

Zoey is building a tiny house and she says: “Simply touching each thing and asking myself “Do I LOVE this?” seems to always work. If my instant internal response is not a loud YES! then out it goes. Sorting everything in Donate, Toss and keep piles became a game – and each thing that left my possession left me feeling lighter and lighter.”

We have a lot of sentimental attachments–and the easiest thing for us is to touch the object and say WHO would love that? and then give it to them. This way, the pleasure still stays with us as we imagined our loved items still being loved.

We have gotten some headway–our kitchen stuff is down to about 5 shelves and we’ll need to trim more… And my desk is a disaster still…

  1. For me it’s the books and the art. Good thing we are blessed with so many people we love who love art!
