MaJe’s desk

Filed under: Furnishings — by accessahut @ 10:12 pm

I have a wonderful, old pastry block (it’s a butcher block but with about 4″ sides to keep the flour from going everywhere). I know any number of fabulous cooks who would probably love it. However, I don’t want to give it up. So, we’ll turn it into my desk. I’ll use an ergonimic stool with back support. I’ll have some storage underneath on the bottom shelf (it’s on wheels, so we can move it around if we need), but keep enough space for my knees. We’ll build a table top desk surface that sits on it, and can be raised at an angle, kind of like a drafting table, so I can do my art work there, and my writing. I can use the computer there, or still on my lap, which is what I do now. I’m excited about this idea!

And we can get castor wheels that brake for both the shelves and the pastry block/desk.

This way, MaJe could be surrounded by books and a desk if she has to stay in bed. This gives us a lot of flexibility… and if we are in a good mood, we can use her desk to bake cookies 🙂

  1. that’s what I was going to suggest – caster wheels that lock!
Maybe a portable cubby that latches on the side to hold your artist tools or office tools.
