My brilliant poet friend wrote this

Three hundred square feet–like a small garage–
This house you shared throughout her final weeks,
Rebuilt to suit her cancer, plainly speaks
Of days each labored breath consumed an age.
Save for the love that lingers here, a cage
Is scarcely more confining; memory seeks
Oxygen tanks and walkers; longing leaks
Into each vacant corner, turns the page.
And yet her paintings, vibrant on these walls,
Proclaim a spirit never really gone;
A snow-white daffodil no doubt recalls
Spring’s promise like a distant clarion;
Oblivious to grief’s persistent squalls,
The potted amaryllis soldier on.

two pets in a small house

I am babysitting a tiny dog, and the cat doesn’t seem to be too impressed. It is amazing how much distance they can put between themselves in a small house…

Noise issues

So I have high sensitivity to sound. Sounds can pound in my head like nails all the time–it is hard to live in a world where t he refrigerator can literally give you a migraine.

I have learned a few things. The radon fan sets me on edge and creates a low, pounding headache within a few minutes. It is supposed to be on all the time… And the radon fan is connected to the dishwasher circuit.

So I turn on the radon just as I leave, put the dishwasher on, and voila. No headache from either one.
Luckily, the circuit breaker is just inside the door.
